Don’t Skip Meals!

by admin on April 27, 2010

We all know that many other ladies out there are culprits of skipping meals, so I decided to check out some health information on my iPhone to see how bad it really is for you. I have quite a few iPhone health apps, which I regularly turn to for dietary information. Recently, a new study showed that fasting or skipping meals is quite bad for your health and could cause injuries. Of course, many girls out there who have wanted to slim down for an upcoming hot date may have cut out breakfast or lunch for a few days to get off that extra 5 pounds. Unfortunately, that is an absolute no-no!

Within this study, women that fasting for 12 hours were asked to do simple exercises, like closing their eyes or standing on one foot. For all of the women who were fasting, it was difficult for them to simply balance compared to the women who had eaten. Overall, this type of fasting impairs balance, which could cause a fall or injury. Even further, fasting affects the body through low blood sugar, which causes dizziness and fatigue. Instead, work to boost your metabolism by eating small healthy meals to keep up your energy levels!

No More Type O?

by admin on April 22, 2010

This may be catering to a very specific audience, but I, for one, have quite a bit of Type O Negative music on my iPod. Type O Negative was a ridiculous goth band from the 90s, and their music is absolutely my guilty pleasure. Unfortunately, the lead singer Peter Steele has recently died, so the band is no more. There are very few details about his death, though it is being attributed to heart failure.

Type O Negative released their first album in 1991, and they had quite a few hits along the way, including a little bit of scandal when the lead singer posed for Playgirl in 1995. For anyone out there who was a fan or who wants to become a fan of this 90s rock band, check out some of their songs, like Black No. 1, My Girlfriend’s Girlfriend, or Cinnamon Girl. When listening to this type of music on your iPod, it is important to be very open-minded and have a little bit of nostalgia for times long past. I promise you that once you give it a try, it will be more and more addicting and become your guilty pleasure as well! Unfortunately, now we no longer have the option of ever seeing them in concert again.
